Okay my son and I love the garbage trucks picking up trash videos so I will definitely be looking up the day-in-the-life vids. Once we found a video of someone just walking from room to room (no explanation) in a modest-sized home and we've been looking for it or something similar ever since.
That sounds like a fascinating video. YouTube is really a wealth of strange treasures. Yes, check out the day in the life videos! Soothing and exciting, both!
I adored The English Understand Wool! And the concept of that entire picture book series from New Directions. This one is probably my favorite of the ones I've read, but I really do love a book you can read in one sitting, and the covers of all of them are gorgeous.
I liked The Vulnerables okay but I loved her other book The Friend much more-- I think you'd really like that one too, there's a really sweet human/dog connection.
I am aching to read more from the New Directions series! I typically love just about everything I read that they put out. I am glad to hear a recommendation for The Friend—I’m sure I’ll love it, but I’m also afraid that the dog/human connection will tear my heart out.
I found The Friend more heartwarming than heartacheing, if that helps!
And I agree-- N.D. almost always hits with the weird little books they put out. I own another one from the picture book series: "In The Act" by Rachel Ingalls. I'm happy to loan it to you if it sounds up your alley!
I LOVED The Vulnerables!! And I was also so worried to start reading it bc of the pandemic timeline— I was happy and surprised that connection, rather than isolation, was its heart.
Oh Kaia, thank you so, so much for these incredibly kind words! I am so touched. You are the very, very best, my friend!!! 🩵🩵🩵
Also - your teacher’s advice to go into a book knowing nothing about it just blew my mind. I’m so excited to do this.
Another beautiful newsletter! (Starting The Boyfriend tonight!)
Paula, the pleasure is all mine!! As will be the pleasures of any and all who read Paula Eats!
Omg yay!! Please tell me how this reading experiment goes for you. I want to know if you like it!
START The Boyfriend NOW. (Then watch opening new doors!!!)
Hugs hugs hugs to you, friend!! No, YOU’RE the very best!
