Everyone has the potential to be a friend.
If you’re hungry, you don’t need to beg for food. You can demand it, or better yet, help yourself to whatever looks good (semi-edible will do).
If someone says no, don’t worry about it. Your yes will come.
You’ll feel better if you move your body every day.
When you’re tired, take a nap.
Cuddles are essential to happiness.
Don’t worry about what it looks like. If it feels good in your body, do it.
You can worry (or not) about the mess later. Go feel the mud between your toes. Roll in the leaves. Frolic. Someone will clean you up eventually.
Anything can be a toy. Play is a love language.
When you see others having fun, let your tail wag. If you ask, they’ll let you join in, too.
Anything and anyone can be a bed.
Never apologize or feel ashamed of your passions and insatiable hungers.
Thank you, Franny, for bringing such joy into our lives. It took me a little bit to fall in love with her (having a puppy and a one-year-old at the same time was not easy!) but now that I have, I can’t imagine our life without her. There’s a lot of wisdom packed into that wagging, wiggling little body. What have you learned from your pets? I’d love to know.
Hope you’re having a great start to the month of March!
With love from my kitchen table,
Kaia
This was so sweet. She's such a beautiful dog!
My dog is approaching 15 and I'm finding that the old lady stage has lessons like the puppy stage does.
As a dog owner, I LOVE this. I also foster dogs and I’d add that I learned from them “not all people are bad”. Most of our fosters come from not-so-great situations and we have to teach them to trust again.
